Aubrey Stevenson - Doula

I am passionate when it comes to learning about people: how they work, love, and heal. I love getting to know them, help them, and support them. I build trust through careful observation and taking the time to meet them where they are. I am committed to creating a safe space where everyone can be themselves and embrace their strengths, vulnerabilities, and fears.

There is a surprising gap in knowledge around pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum which leaves many feeling blindsided and unprepared as they reach this new stage of their life. Stepping into the unknown can feel daunting, so my goal is to replace that fear with comfort and practical preparation of how to navigate the journey of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. I am here to provide steady guidance as you and your family move through these changes.

Motivations

I believe I did not choose this path- this path chose me. I have always felt a call to help people. Most of my life has been spent searching for my purpose. I have followed the path, though sometimes daunting. It wasn’t until I was working in an OBGYN clinic when a colleague told me that I would make a great doula. That was the first time I ever heard the word. She explained what a doula does and I realized that it perfectly aligned with my personality, values, and strengths. From that moment on, I have worked towards becoming the best doula I can be.

Since then, I have supported many women through their birth and postpartum journeys including my three sisters. I feel so blessed to be at a point in my life where I can walk alongside families through some of the most vulnerable, challenging, and transformative times of their lives. Helping people and relieving pain and fear is my biggest motivation when practicing as a doula. I am constantly looking for new ways to help people and researching ways to provide comfort, alleviate pain, and offer evidence-based support during labor and the postpartum period. The most fulfilling feeling is knowing I made a meaningful difference—whether by easing someone's physical discomfort, offering emotional reassurance, or simply being a steady, compassionate presence when they needed it most.

History

I was born on Halloween, so pumpkins have always been a part of my story. They represent abundance, prosperity, transformation, protection, and potential- qualities I hope to bring to every family I have the honor of supporting.

My passion for caring for others began long before my career in healthcare. I spent my teenage years caring for my grandparents and my Aunt Jenny, who has Down-Syndrome. This is where I learned patience, compassion, and being present for people during both joyful and challenging seasons of life. Pursuing a career in healthcare felt like a natural path.

After both my grandparents passed, I moved out to the bay area to dedicate myself to serving others. Over the past four years, I have worked in pediatrics and OBGYN and each role has shaped me in meaningful ways. One of the greatest privileges I have is being invited into such an intimate and personal chapter of a family's life. Supporting parents as they welcome a new baby and grow into their new roles is an experience I never take for granted.

While my past has shaped who I am today, I am even more excited for what lies ahead. I look forward to continuing to support families, strengthen my community, and provide compassionate care that helps people feel safe, confident, and empowered throughout their journey.

Testimonials

“I couldn’t have asked for a better doula than Aubrey. She was so caring and genuine that I was able to let go of all my worries about letting someone into such an intimate moment in my life. She cared for me through my entire pregnancy, the birth, and postpartum.

During my pregnancy she always checked on me mentally, not just physically. There were times I felt so overwhelmed- going a little crazy with my two toddlers- and she’d just show up and help me. She went so far above and beyond what I ever expected a doula to do.

She made sure I knew all my options- exercises, stretches, and positions to relieve pain during pregnancy and birth- and she understood every one of my wishes for delivery long before we ever walked into that room. During the birth she kept my husband close to me, which mattered so much because his instinct when he’s stressed is to step back. She made sure I had everything I needed to feel comfortable, safe, and calm, and she eased my nerves every step of the way.

Postpartum, she was just as wonderful- always checking in on my mental health, asking what I needed, or just being there if I needed to talk. Aubrey didn’t just support me; she took care of me. I can’t recommend her enough.”

“Aubrey is an incredible doula! From the very beginning when I came to Aubrey with news of my pregnancy, she was always very supportive and showed real interest in my experience during my pregnancy. I work a stressful, time-consuming job, so it made times difficult for me during pregnancy. I was barely able to focus on labor preparation.

Aubrey always made the effort to check in with me, offer resources, and she educated me on part of labor that I knew nothing about! Aubrey helped to support me with my goal in wanting to have a natural labor, but she also knew that I was open to pain medication if it got to that point for me. Aubrey was truly amazing during my labor. She was able to quickly adapt as my pain progressed and my mind had so many questions or feelings of doubt. She helped me do different positions/stretches through contractions, she used labor massage techniques, and she even taught my husband how to support me in labor too!

Most importantly for me, Aubrey was able to be my voice when things got hard and she educated me on things that were happening during labor too. She brought me so much security during my pregnancy and labor. I could not imagine going through any of it without Aubrey. When I think of words to describe Aubrey as a doula, I think of: patient, kind, adaptive, well-educated, and loving. If these traits are what you’re looking for in a doula, then definitely choose Aubrey!”
